Biography

Brian Andrews received his bachelor's degree in physics from Kenyon
College in 2016 and his Ph.D. in physics from Drexel University in 2023.
He is currently the Bucher-Jackson Postdoctoral Fellow working in
Professor Asja Radja’s lab.

Brian's research interests include applying varied computational
approaches to the folding and disordered dynamics of biomolecules like
proteins and RNA. These molecules, and their surrounding environment,
have many atoms at short length scales which means these are N-body
problems in a large phase space where quantum mechanics is relevant.
Both hardware and algorithmic advances in the space offer opportunities
to ask bigger questions. Brian's latest research is focused on
developing new methods for designing RNA molecules with targeted
thermodynamic properties using a combination of high-performance
computing, machine learning, and applied quantum computing.
