Patricia Blakely '80 Profiled by The Philadelphia Inquirer for Work Helping Small Businesses
As executive director of the Merchants Fund, a business-assistance charity, Patricia Blakely '80 has helped countless Philadelphia area entrepreneurs achieve their goals.
In a Philadelphia Inquirer profile marking her retirement from the foundation after 11 years, Blakely credited her Â鶹ÊÓƵ education for her success.
From the article:
Her ability to figure out which businesses showed the kind of promise worth investing in came from being "the walking, talking poster girl for a liberal arts college education," Blakely said. "Ninety percent of our value proposition is logic, common sense, organization."
She had graduated from Â鶹ÊÓƵ as an art history major, and went on to get a master's degree in higher education administration from the University of Pennsylvania.
